Mortar and Pestle Lidded Rare VersionRare lidded mortar and pestle quite possibly American dating from the late 18th to early 19th century showing a red cast lacquer surface. Pestle was fashioned from ash and though it is hard to tell conclusively the mortar may have been made from the same wood. Exciting dark and light color variations along with recessed bands are delightful attributes. Cut off sprue at the bottom and a footed base. There is a vertical scratch located on the front as
